Christmas/New Years

Christmas this year was a bit different for the Shuman family.

BUT it's the different one's that you remember.....right?

So we are banking on this one standing out for a really long time!

It all started on Sunday, when my parents decided to go visit Marcia & family for the holidays. This was a great idea....for them!.....

The next day James was scheduled for his "simple" knee scope that put him on the couch for several weeks......then complications w/ a blood clot (see previous post)

So Christmas entailed, James not feeling well from post anesthesia/surgery, me trying NOT to barf & Spencer wanting some attention.

Two of James sisters just this last year moved from Utah. Melanie & family to Chicago & Brittany to California. His mom, Donna is doing flight attendant stuff again so she was off flying for the holidays. So it was us & Grant hanging out for the day.

McKay & Danielle along w/ Marty & Marjorie popped in when they could - it was the in-laws year! When we did see them we ate & played games. Spencer loved people to play with. Marcia & my mom begged to take Spencer to Seattle with them. It was a little tempting because he would have had so much fun with the cousins.....but I couldn't stand to be away from him for 10 days - especially for christmas.

Christmas Eve was spent eating Mexican, playing games & being entertained by Spencer.

Christmas morning we woke up around 8:30 - opened up stockings, ate breakfast, then took our time opening presents.

Spencer LOVED the presents. He sat in his special chair & had to get every bit of paper off before he would look at the present. He opened up a couple of toys, then just wanted to play with them. So we saved the rest of his presents. It wasn't until the next day where James & I heard Spencer saying "open more presents" over & over. When I finally went in the other room I saw him sitting in his chair holding a present....just waiting for us!

Overall, it was a great day. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful families. Though we are used to noise & chaos on such a holiday.....it was a great day. We are grateful to have been able to spend the day together.......as our little family.
